Have only taken for one week. I have multiple problems - getting to sleep, staying asleep, awakening too early. Ambien gets me to sleep, but thus far has only ensured a 4-5 hour block before awakening.

Never had a problem getting to sleep until about a year ago. I was using OTC sleep aids, which sometimes worked, sometimes didn't. Finally got fed up with not being able to either get to sleep or fall back asleep when awoken and spoke with my doctor. He prescribed 10 mg, but said I could cut in half to 5 mgs. Ambien helped me get to sleep and stay asleep thru the night. but in the morning I had no trouble getting up nor was I drowsey it worked very well!
