Lost my period, gained a lot of weight, had pain in my legs. I would not recommend this drug to anyone. The therapist who prescribed it to me, Dr. Katherine Watkins from Rand, would not even give me a diagnosis. She said that I had to keep taking this but would not give me a reason. If I didn't know better, I'd think that some doctors just prescribe it to see what will happen to their patients. It must be some sick form of "research" because they obviously don't care that the benefits of prescribing this seem to HARDLY EVER outweigh the side effects.

My father was given this for tactile delusions of objects in his mouth. Unfortunately he developed Parkinson's symptoms severe tremors, gained 20 lbs and constantly was drooling. His new doctor recently took him off this drug. His weight has returned to normal drooling had stopped but still has almost constant shaking.

over a five month ;numbness in whole nervous system ..and dulling of mind and emotion...then internal quivering, inability to sleep, the high pitch of birdsong irritated...An extreme slow allergic reaction ! that needed nursing care to overcome.!It was a lethal experience !

I was put on this drug at a rehabilitation center for traumatic brain injury. My wife and daughter had noticed a scary change in my personality once I left the intensive care/ hospital stay and was at the rehab center. I was put on this drug at a rehabilitation center for traumatic brain injury. My wife and daughter had noticed a scary change in my personality once I left the intensive care/ hospital stay and was at the rehab center. Upon checking she found out the attending doctor was prescribing Risperdal and decided to research it on the web. She was shocked and scared to find her results and immediately went to see the doctor telling him she wanted her husband off of this medication. The doctor refused until she said I was a member of AA and had a strong background in abuse of chemicals ( alcohol) 20 years before. He told her he took me off of it but she found the papers recently stating he never had during my two week stay. I believe this horrible drug caused psychosis in me while I was there and also was the culprit for my loss of taste and smell. I do remember being able to taste food when I first got to the hospital but never again after that. It is in my opinion the wrong drug to give to a patient with a serious head injury as they are already fighting to deal with brain issues. This was 13 years ago and I have never recovered my sense of smell or taste.

Negative feelings, no emotions, blank stare, she said she can't stop thinking. thought she had depression, now she is on another drug for depression after 4 weeks, she is on another drug so that she gets some energy within 3 months she is on 4 different drugs. The 4th drug is so she doessn't feel anxious. My husband, me and my niece watched a movie called Making a Killing. Is is about prescription medicines in regards to the Mental Health field. There is no exact science to theses medicines. We called her Doctor and asked that she be taken off all medicines. My niece, husband and I feel that the resperdal started the feelings of being worthless, not being able to concentrate, doesn't enjoy writing or drawing anymore and she is crying all the time, she doesn't even feed her cat anymore. We hope that there isn't any permanent damage. She is only 23 and didn't even enjoy her birthday.
