Who should not take Venlafaxine HCL?

The following conditions are contraindicated with this drug. Check with your physician if you have any of the following:

Conditions:

  • Child-Pugh class A liver impairment
  • chronic kidney disease stage 5 (failure)
  • risk of angle-closure glaucoma due to narrow angle of anterior chamber of eye
  • weight loss
  • seizures
  • liver problems
  • closed angle glaucoma
  • serotonin syndrome
  • a type of disorder with high serotonin levels
  • suicidal thoughts
  • manic-depression
  • an increased risk of bleeding
  • increased risk of bleeding due to clotting disorder
  • low amount of sodium in the blood
  • high cholesterol
  • a disorder with excess antidiuretic hormone called syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone
  • kidney disease with likely reduction in kidney function
  • Child-Pugh class C liver impairment
  • Child-Pugh class B liver impairment
  • chronic kidney disease stage 4 (severe)
  • chronic kidney disease stage 3B (moderate)
  • chronic kidney disease stage 3A (moderate)
  • chronic kidney disease stage 2 (mild)
  • severe liver disease
  • high blood pressure
