Labetalol/Diltiazem; Verapamil Interactions

How the interaction occurs:

When these two medicines are taken together, the effects of one or both medicines may increase. Heart problems and high doses of your beta-blocker may increase the chance for harmful effects. Using additional heart medicines may also lead to harmful effects.

What might happen:

You may experience an increase in side effects from one or both medicines, including low blood pressure, slow heart rate, heart block, and heart failure.

What you should do about this interaction:

Let your healthcare professionals (e.g., doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking these medicines together. Your doctor may want to change your medicines. If you experience a slow or irregular heartbeat, chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness or lightheadedness, or confusion, contact your doctor right away.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this drug interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
