I think all the people who have had complications associated with this drug need to remember that it is a drug, and all drugs have possible side effects, that is why there are warnings documented. The percentage of individuals worldwide who have complications linked with this drug is very small. Anytime you take any kind of pharmaceutical there is a risk of getting the 'short straw', this is just unlucky and others reading these comments should still take what is prescribed, I have cared for a number of people in ICU who have almost died from untreated UTI's and developed permernant renal failure. My advice would be to take the medication but if any side effects present cease the drug and seek immediate advice from your doctor - don't sit on the symptoms waiting for them to resolve. Remember better to be safe than sorry.

this is the only drug that I take when the YTI hits. for years I have taken other drugs with no success. Finally the doc I was seeing sent me to Howard Goldstein.MD in wilmington De He did one test then put me on cipro. I call it my salvation. I've stopped trying figure out what causes the attacks, I just am so happy not to be in the horrible pain. The attacks are getting fewer, this one ... Show Full Comment

I had a simple bacterial urinary tract infection which my awful, negligent doctor decided to treat with a horrible drug called ciprofloxacin, which has so many awful side effects it should never be prescribed except in life and death situations and maybe not even then. I had a simple bacterial urinary tract infection which my awful, negligent doctor decided to treat with a horrible drug called ciprofloxacin, which has so many awful side effects it should never be prescribed except in life and death situations and maybe not even then. Any doctor prescribing this stuff because the pharmaceutical reps bought him off is evil. The mantra goes "First, do no harm." Doctors who prescribe this drug generally have failed this criterion and should suffer the effects of the drugs themselves.

Halfway through taking oral suspension liquid Cipro. Grateful to have this drug but the taste is horrendous. Torture. No side effects to date. Why can't they make it taste better? I couldn't take the gigantic pill so I did this instead. If the makers of this drug want you to take it, can't they make it easier? I just don't understand. We have rockets sent to space, we have smart phones, but this simple medicine still has to taste like licking a piece of wet chalk that has been dipped in grease? It's nauseating. I'm a grown woman and this is ridiculous. We can do better. I'm thankful that I won't have a bacterial infection. But after day 5 I'm still uncomfortable which surprised me. Hoping for the best as I force myself to take the rest of it for 5 more agonizing days. And by the way, I've been through cancer treatment - and this is still awful. I've been through the ringer and I don't think getting better should entail this kind of disregard for human comfort. Please make a smaller pill and much better tasting liquid. We are human beings.
