It took me ten years or more to stop regergitating tegretol. It does a great job at stopping my grand mals but I still have petits. I can't take anything for because of bad reactions. I recently had a grand mal while on tegretol, the first one in years. My time with it or my dosage my be coming to end it continues.

my son took this med for seizures. He went into bone marrow depression and was in a coma. It is very important to have your white blood cell count monitered while on this drug. He is well now, took mysoline until he became seizure free as a teenager.

Taken for about 5 years and have been free of seizures for that time. Like the time release but must take the generic as the time release version not available to veterans... ):

Johns Hopkins changed me over to Tegretol XR. A miracle.Instantly, No break through seizures. No side effects. Off of 4 add ons to stop break throughs. Will go generic we hope in 2011. Try it. It is great.
